I've got a set of Straight cut timing gears for my A Banger,
they've been made up in mild steel, what do you reckon, do they need to be surface hardened before use??

wouldn't hurt...but you can always let us know the outcome of running non-hardend gears.

how old are these, and where did you get them.

i run a set of original straight cuts on my T, i just like the grinding sound they make...more racket is always a good thing :D

The gears that i've got are brand new, I think they've been laser cut, I got them in a box full of bits from a grey beard over here, I was thinkin hard casing would be a good idea, however I know that other gears are brass, or even fibre, so they should be hard enough, brass does have a lube quality about it..
