Here is a 4bbl intake I designed and built for my 230 straight 6. I had to isolate the 3 Siamese ports with metal mesh embedded with hi-temp epoxy and brazing a metal strip on the front of the bolt bosses. The separate runners are equal length and it is a 180deg design with two separate ports. I carved the body from mahogany, then made a female cast of that in plaster. Then I lined the inside with 1/4" of clay and cast runner patterns in plaster. Finally I made fiberglass molds of those castings. I made cope and drag boxes and a custom match plate to help the casting process. I had a little mini-foundry in Bakersfield who cast the manifold foe me using all my patters. Add a 390cfm Holley and it would climb a rope!
Here's the first piece of jewelry for the 261 that will find its way into my '52. I think this and the 261 are the beginning of a very expensive detour on Sam the '52's redo.....lol
An intake with no I.D. of any sort. It looks like it came from the same mold as the one shown in this thread several years ago with HOT ROD cast between the two carb risers.
A pair of Bumble Bee headers; basically a pair of Clark headers with a heat riser welded to the front header. Hot Rod magazine had a small test article about them in 1953.
Here's what I had in the basement of our old house. Pic taken c. 1979. Several of these are in the hands of HAMBers today.
A stock 235 exhaust manifold, split and sold by Fenton, using a special second outlet that they cast for the purpose.
Here's another rare one. Again, no I.D. on it, but an article about hopping up Chevrolet and GMC sixes in a 1954 Car Craft magazine referred to it as a product of Wayne Manufacturing.
^^^ I’ve got one exactly like it in my stash, a GMC. Same linkage bosses cast in. No name on it either.. ^^^ that might be a Stomberg small base, not sure.
Either Clifford made one that looks similar, or one I've seen elsewhere was mis-identified. There was a similar one recently on eBay, looked very similar to the "Clifford" I saw on another site, but the one on eBay was listed as a Nicson.
I saw it. It looks like it was patterned after the one I've got and is pictured in the article, but Pat Dykes was selling the GMC version in the '90s. No idea who cast it.
I've got a Clifford 4 bbl. intake for GMC, and the port size is larger than the small port head, but smaller than the large port head. Is yours like that?
