sticky superior wheel.?

    an old hot rodder just gave me a black superior "500" wheel. its not foam its rubber on the ring. it was very sticky then i washed it off with a cleaner. then it got wayy better but then once it dried it was sticky again.. so i used soap and water this time. felt good. then once i dried it off its sticky again anyone run into this??

    strange ain't it.
    I used simple green,and the scrubby side of the kitchen sponge.
    Later a small touch of Armour-All.
    Now it's shiney and smooth.

    Build up over time from greasy hands creates a sticky film on rubber gripped wheels. A non petroleum based degreaser such as purple power followed by an upholstery cleaner seems to take care of it.

    I use rubbing alcohol for that reason. Cleans off the dirt and grease that accumulates over time. I even carry some of those hospital swabs used for before giving injections, they're small but two or three together work great.
