Customs steering wheel for 51 merc

i want to change steering wheel on my 51 merc. it has the original column with the single key slot for the wheel. question is can i fit an early wheel on the car from a 28- 48 ford or is this a different size taper? speedway has an adapter for a 28-48 ford that changes it to the 3 hole pattern but unsure if my car has same taper. anyone know for sure? thanks in advance

 

I have an adapter here I pulled off a 49 Merc that had a 3 bolt grant wheel on it. Wasn't my thing. If you're interested pm me and I'll dig it up for pics.

yes if you dont mind take a pic. do you know if its the speedway item? just trying to see what options i have. like the older wheels like the lincolns. dont know if the shaft is the same taper.
