What's the rest of the truck look like?

Cragars go on anything.. but more so if it's dialed in to the 65 and up timeframe when they debuted....

They both look good, chrome reversed three-bump Milner steelies would be the early '60s bees knees also..

DO NOT put wide whites on Cragars... ever. I don't care who or what tells you it's ok... it's not. :D

Just ask yourself if it's a hot rod, a custom, or a vintage kind of flavor.. I might even entertain a set of cast-finished Americans with the straight spokes to go with the grungy paint...

My '52 F1 had craigers on out when I got it. I took them off and put steelies on it. I agree that it depends on what kind of "look" you're after. I was after more of a "resto-mod" look than a street rod look. I changed the stance back to a more traditional one too (previous owner had lowered it).

I'm on vacation at the moment; I'll post some before and after pics when I get home.

    Peace,

Steel wheels look good with any blackwall or whitewall but the Cragars don"t look worth a crap with WWW tires.

Cragars don't look right on old trucks, that said if you have a lot of chrome on your truck go with a chrome steel wheel in not then paint em color of your choice

  19. razorshotrods, what brand of tires are on that truck ive been looking for some ww's like those

Steelies for sure, IMO cragers look good only when a truck has a really low stance, bagged/hydros etc. Stock height? def. go with steelies.

Steelies, I think the cragars look dumb on those trucks. Why not get a set of lancer caps or crossbars and just swap between those and your caps now for a change when you feel like it?

Below are some photos showing the transformation from street rod to resto mod. The first photo is the way it looked when I got it. Second photo is with steelies, raised a bit, and converted shaved front bumper to stock. The third photo is after it was painted back it's original color, sheridan blue.

It's your truck, but I liked the first version better... All it needed was the chrome front bumper, maybe some 1" white walls. :D

Yeah... pure restoration vs resto-mod vs street rod is an endless debate. I have mine the way I want, but its cool with me if others choose a different route.

    Peace

Go with the steelies. Lots more options ( color, caps, rings ) for changing the look if you want later. Craigers are Craigers !
