The 32 5W coupe Henry at Steadyfast builded some years ago is simply my new favorite. Its a movie about the car and he describe the chop, if I get it correct is only ’wedged’ and chopped 3/8”. But to me it look like near 3”. I wonder if hood is extended and car has small very nice custom trix here and there even if he mean body was almost as Henry made it. The car might inspire my 5W even if I has older speedparts.
Hank: I sent you pictures of my 5 latest window chopped 3.5 inches in front and 3 in the rear. That's a wedge chop. I've built several coupes and sedans with a wedge chop, First one was 45 years ago, was good enough for Hot Rod and Street Rodder. If I remember the Steadfast built 5 window has a longer than stock hood. Oh ya, it's Steadfast not Steadyfast.
Ok that sounds as the wedge of chop. But how much could it be total, just qurios. Car is awsome. Edit ; Find a build-up thread here ( great ) Roof was front 3.5/8” and rear 3.3/8” Pillars was leaned back so roof was not extended.
One question, it was told the hood was sectioned. What does that get, maybe it was as grille was lowered 3/8” to frame rails ? It look like a stock 25 louvers hood so not extended.
The hood tops were wedge sectioned just above the molding. Very subtle. I suspect the hood sides are untouched and sit in the same, as original, place relative to the cowl and frame. The grill shell would thus be moved down to meet the lowered hood top. Chris Chris
My 32 roadster has the shell sitting a little lower than stock with the crossmember moved ahead and the tops wedge cut slightly. My Rootlieb stretched hood has their Gennie Henry 25 louver sides. When Rootlieb does this stretched hood they keep the front and rear balance so it doesn't look stretched.
I wonder when angle the pillar how about upper door holder ? Old chop they did bend it above that holder ( if I got it correct ) if they did not extend roof.
