Hey, I'm starting work on a 40 Chev and it is full of plastic and really rough. My friend Mitch and I decided to try out some custom ideas on this project because it is such a basket case(it doesn't look so bad in the pics). The front nose design is giving us the most trouble. Fabricating / cutting / welding doesn't bother us, Mitch did up some really cool sketches of our different ideas. I know some ideas might be overkill and sometimes less = more. Let us know what parts you do like, if any. We're backyard builders so go easy on us. Thanks, Joe

I think you'd be better off with a simple lowering job, some repair/body work and a fresh coat of primer, running no hood...

#2-I really don't like quad or canted headlights, and no one should do something I don't like. The Caddy thing is kinda neat. Godd luck on where ever you go with it.

I like 4 but if you go wild on the body mods then you need to chop it!

Well, here's what we've done so far. Thanks for all the advice and it helped to guide us to not get too crazy. I don't know if it will look like any of the pics. We went with the quad headlights look. We want it to look like it is moving forward even when it is sitting still so we took the stock headlight buckets and cut them down and then kind of frenched the units we built and them customed an overhanging eyelid so it looks aero dynamic and curved like a bomb casing. we also lowered the front end 3 inches and we're going to lower the rear 3in. then do a chop. Tomorrow were working on handforming some fender skirts. We were going to drive to the Jalopy Showdown but the left rear brake locked up at the last minute. The thing is rough but will start to take shape soon. Thanks, Joe

Actually we have no ideas yet. We were hoping to find something at a swap meet or junkyard that would catch our eyes or chop something down and custom shape the openning??? Any Ideas or old custom tricks are really welcome! Thanks Joe
