does the S wire on a 283 chevy starter motor only have power when you start the car. In other words when the car is running, there is no current to the wire, only at start up. Is this correct? Thanks for the help.

  3. Purple is correct...

  4. Purple 12ga as stated, if it has another small wire, it is typically a 16ga wire that goes from the "R" side of the solenoid to the positive side of the coil to relay 12 volts as it cranks to improve the ignition fire as opposed to the normal 8.7 running voltage.
