Art & Inspiration Standard Oil Sign?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dare-to-be-different, Dec 5, 2018.

  1. I saw this at a scrapyard near DuQuoin Il.
It appears to be an old Standard Oil sign.
No glass or plastic face is left, but the frame looks to be complete and probably fixable.
I believe it's available at scrap metal price.
I'll find out the phone number if this picture generates any interest.
I think the scrapyard is named Tilly's or something like that.
The town is between Elkville Il and DuQuoin. It may be called Dowell Il ?

I can find a phone number if anyone wants to pursue this.

This part of the country, before being combined into Amoco - Utoco and several other regional brands shared that general design.

I just took a guess at what it was without research.
I dont know how to change the title of the thread, but the sign is cheap.
This scrap dealer gives very good deals, usually at the scrap prices without boosting it up to speculator prices.

Kind of a cool frame. I'm to far away to be interested but it could be brought back to life on the cheap by the right guy.
