Projects Stand By For The 1934 Chevrolet

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by xderelict, Nov 11, 2015.

  1. P1010244.JPG 6" channel stock wheel base. No kick in frame. 30" tall back tires. Will end up being full fendered. The running boards will be 6-1/2" front to 7" back corner off the ground at ride height. 3" axle clearance with a light C notch. I plan to drive it a few years fenderless before I cut up the quarters so I can mount the rear fenders.

I found a pretty nice cowl and set of doors with a 34 4 door sedan I got cheap.

I've made progress on the frame. Some of what's left over.

I like your plans for a channeled hot rod. More guys should try that approach with coupes other than Fords. 34 Chev five windows are cool cars when done.

  10. No prob Man, I got them years ago for a coupe project that never came to be. Glad you can use them. I now have 6 more square inches of self space, so we both win!

Geometry test, I think I passed. The frame should sit about one inch above scrub. I've got to notch the frame a bit for the front spring.

I'm keeping after it. I got my axels back with new bearings and lug studs yesterday. Fuel tank is in. It should be a roller this after noon. Drive shaft will get cut and fitted Monday. I intend to plumb the car out while everything is in the open. Looking forward to hanging sheet metal.

I've been working on the Chevy a bit. Fellow SOT member Rod Kennon helps when my ideas are bigger than my abilities. I wanted this grill from a 37 Cadillac cut down 6 fins. He nailed it. I modified the stock 34 grill shell to fit the cut down Cadillac grill.

Got some other stuff done also. Cord wrapped the 52 Buick steering wheel and shifter. Steering is functioning. Got the brake and fuel lines laid out. The exhaust is over the axel and out the rear.

Seeing your dash set up with the steering column drop really gives me a good look at where this is headed. To damn cool!

Started mating the front of one body to the rear of another. Looks like they mate up well. A little more to trim and fit.
