  8. Pardon me for reviving this out of season thread but I didn't want to let the cat out of the bag too early back in post 84, but surprise! Here's John Kobell's car all finished just in time for the Lone Star Round Up today. I'm honored to have had a tiny part by making the shift knob for his really, all around, well done Comet.

  10. No, that’s the Grasshopper, or rather it’s clone.

I really want to paint my 60s era full-fendered A coupe Ivy Green (Ford used it in the mid 60s (for sure in 65/66) but after seeing many of these cars, I'm kind-of scared of it now.

Either lots of these people chose the wrong greens or I really don't like green all that much.

Perhaps you are thinking of Langy, who was (according to his profile) from just north of London. Unfortunately he's passed on now. But he had a REALLY cool 32 roadster with a 394 Olds. Here's a pic of it. I wish i had a pic of the entire car. I have 3 pix but they are all just engine shots. I think he did a build thread on it but I can't find it using search and going through the threads listed in his profile. Does anyone know where it is? Or have a pic of the entire car?

Is there really a green Futurliner? Or is this a Photoshop? What's the back story?

Anyone know where Langy's build thread went? I've searched the posts in his profile and can't find it.

I sure would like to have pix of the entire car.

Peter Pan (#4) is 1 of 12 Futurliners built by GM for the Parade of Progress show in the 40s and 50s. It is a 12 ton, 33' long, 8′ wide, 11′ 4" high, custom-built steel- bodied truck. Each cost GM $2M in today’s money to build.

A bit of trivia I came across, '...Offically, there are two “generations” of Futurliner, but they are the same vehicle...'
    • Prior to 1953, they were powered by a diesel four-cylinder and a four-speed manual transmission, complete with a two-speed splitter box and a two-speed rear axle.
    • Post1953, the diesel was dropped in favor of a GMC 302ci six cylinder, and the four-speed manual was dropped in favour of a Hydra-matic automatic transmission, however Futurliners still struggled to hit 50mph.

    Hello,

This is one of the nicest green 34 Ford Phaeton hot rods. It was located in the Price Transfer Automoblia Museum, along a row leading up to the Lions Dragstrip Museum wing. The other cars in the row were bright, this one was dark green, low, and had a “ready to pounce” stance. It stood out quite well from the other historic cars in the rows.

A little late for St. Patrick’s Day celebration, but ready to drive at a moment’s notice. (as are all of the cars in this fabulous place for cars, displays, and many memories...) The great restoration crew at this giant warehouse is constantly busy with the upkeep and modifications to what ever new/old that car rolls up the ramp to the workshop area.

The whole complex is very pleasant to the eyes and the brain's functioning memory core. Once it is open again, you can't go wrong visiting this outstanding, Price Transfer Automobilia Museum. If there is a charity function scheduled and is open to the public, don't miss it.

    Hello,

In a field of green, one guy was “doing his own thing…” at the Price Transfer Automobilia Museum display floor in the Willys wing. (Yes, a separate Willys wing for all things Willys, it seems like the biggest collection of old Willys cars, sedan/panel deliveries, and wagons) The models and styles range from NOS to Drag cars to 50s-60s hot rods. (Very rare models and wagons.)

This wing led to the Lions Dragstrip Museum, where a famous gas coupe was residing…the SWC Swindler 2 Willys coupe.

What travels and stories this scoop could tell us for hours and hours…a lot of history here…and for those that turn "GREEN" with envy...
