square bolt sources????

    flipping my axle from leaf on top >>>>to a leaf on bottom setup. axle is a 53 chevy. my square bolt that holds the axle to the leafs is 1 1/2" too short. so where is a good place to get a longer one the same size just longer.:confused::confused::confused:

    You can get square head bolts from McMaster-Carr. They have almost any size you can want. Check them out on line.

    I think you are asking about the "Square Top" style u-bolts that secure axle and springs.
    You can try a truck or suspension shop. Also try NAPA or Tractor Supply. Trailer Supply and sales should be able to help you.
    Fleet Pride in my area says that they can build new u-bolts to my specs. Look Fleet Pride up on the net......... I think there are two in your state.......... Jeff

    Can you just grind a regular bolt head square.

    I go to my local spring shop (Oregon Spring) and have them bent up to spec while I wait. Last set for my Econoline straight axle were $7 ea. with nuts and washers.

    Same here, a local truck shop makes them to order for about $7.

    www.grainger.com Over 1 million hardware parts in their catalog. Great variety too. The will deal with individuals too.
