    Are you ready?

    .

  5. car has been in trailer for a month and nothing is leaking under the trailer...............yet.
The Flathead is being installed and new manifold is at the welder.
The Dyno sessions went well, no major mess and we have a good idea what to do for gearing.

I'm sure it won't be all that efficient, but I've had a fascination with both homemade Model A intakes intakes, and dual updraft- so I figured I might as well give it a shot. Plus I don't think any of the aftermarket dual updraft intakes would clear my manifolds...

Anyone checked out the Gempsa engine in the classifieds?

  13. The Gemsa looks pretty good.
The history behind it makes it worth the price of admission.

Someone is going to have a piece of history.

This morning, I located some patterns from a Indy driver back in the day, DOHC.
    Research begins.

    Curious...

Hansel, my warmed over Banger, emits a crackling and popping sound out the tailpipe when the engine is on overrun (fully letting off the throttle when the car is moving fast). Sounds cool, but I am curious...

    1) what causes this? My theory is that the throttle plates are closed, the carb (Stromberg 97) has now shifted into the idle circuit, fuel mixture is now too lean to support combustion in the combustion chamber, but lights off when it reaches the hot exhaust manifold/tailpipe.

Is my theory correct, if not, what is happening?

    2) Long term, can this cause any damage, and/or does it have a negative effect on performance?

other than the cool sound, He runs great and the wide band Air/Fuel gauge shows nothing weird (generally 13.X - 14.x AF).

Thanks in advance for any input.

I don't know what this engine was
Some one said GM? The front cover looked like a newer engine.

Common if there is a small air leak in the exhaust system up near the engine. Additional air mixes with slightly rich mixture, all of which didn't burn, and is ignited by heat in manifold, or pipe. No harm that I know of.

Took off for the Turlock swap Saturday night hoping to find an exhaust manifold and a tillotson carb for my banger project. I came home with a lot more than planned.

If that block came with that multi disk flywheel from the factory, there is a good chance it is a 5 cam bearing block. What is the serial number?

The serial number is A587997. Where can I get some info about the flywheel setup, it's very different from the banger I have been putting together. I thought it was parts of a direct drive system for an ag. application.

I think the first 200,000 - 300,00 cars produced in 1928 had the multi clutch set up.

That serial number is too high for the 5 cam bearing blocks.

If you search ford bard, I'm sure there are many posts with info on them.
