Don't let us old timers get you down kid. We need new blood in the scene. I think you could do it with some nuts, bolts, washers, bearing, etc. It might be a good learning exercise. It might not be time well spent.
My best advice is stick to the absolute basics first. Get it running and driving before you tear it all apart.

If you could make the flippers stationary while driving, that would be interesting. Apart from that, just bang'em on and enjoy the cool hubcaps.

  4. ^X2 to both of these. That's a nice looking car, stick with it and good luck. There is a wealth of good info here.....and stay away from flame thrower coils.

Only on the Hamb. Funny as hell. Great to hear you've pick out an old car to work on. Stick around and learn. We will make a hotrodder out of you or an eccentric old fart. There are plenty of us that fall into that latter category.

  7. Welcome to the HAMB. Hang in there and ask plenty questions -- that's how ya learn.

Regarding the Fiesta caps... very popular back in the day. Saw them everywhere it seems. I never did like them at all though... just my opinion. It's your car and you should run what ya like..............

Welcome to the HAMB. Really, these guys have been pretty mellow azzholes today, usually they are much worse. I hope you grow some think skin and hang around, there really is a lot of good guys willing to teach you what they have learned, you just have to put up with the BS on occasion. I see you have a sense of humor, that is going to help. Gene

Ditto.........Let me add my best advise,to keep those fake flippers shiny you have to wax hell out of them often, I have seen lots of rusty ones over the years. Unless they are different than the original aftermarket ones from back in the 50's they rusted about the first time they got wet.

Welcome! Let's see some pics of that 54! if we're busting your Balls, it's because we're accepting you. It's all good natured. You'll need Rhino thick skin here sometimes.

    Additional FYI;
    • Dummy spotlights-don't really light up (if you ask, we'll think you're a dummy.
    • Pop up pistons-don't really "pop-up".
    • Log manifolds-are not made from logs (save for the Flintstone episode where Fred & Barney owned a race car).
    • Cheater slicks-really don't cheat anyone.
    • Continental Kits-can actually be installed on cars other than Lincoln Continentals.
    • Lancers-really don't "lance" anything (other than air).
    • Sombreros-are not actual straw hats. Though it would be novel to use actual Sombreros on your wheels if you could find a way to attach them!

Welcome to the HAMB! Sometimes this place is like a high school locker room. Ask questions, post a pic of your car so we can see what your working with. Also take the crap in stride, (within limits)give as good as you
get and hang in there. Nice to have young kids on board.

Good catch! While everyone else is acting like assholes (I don't act- I am), you actually found out what the kid's talking about.
