My wife and I along with two other couples got a personal tour of the museum with Bill two weeks ago. photo 1.jpg

A real pioneer in the speed equipment business and he'll be sorely missed.

  4. For all the gripes many of us have about the business, he was a great businessman and investor. He will be missed.

Echo what Tman said...Speedy Bill was always personable with me. (but it was years ago...after that, he had managers & salesmen.)

"Nobody gets out of life alive".......Even knowing that fact, the passing of people we are
familiar with, either loved ones, close friends or, as in this case, an well renowned industry
leader, we feel a sadness when hearing the news. And, that is appropriate.

Had a hand shake and visit with "Speedy Bill" last June at his museum, (a must see by the way). Done business with Speedway for years and still do. The store is great but the muesum will blow you away when you see all of it.

Met Bill on the 2002 Power Tour at his shop. He couldn't believe I drove my 'ol roadster from Michigan. We talked for about a half hour in the parking lot. Wonderful man to talk to,very down to earth. He walked away from my car with a smile on his face, shaking his head. One of those moments you don't forget. Godspeed Bill.

Sorry to hear it. Was he still actively running the business or had he turned it over to a management team?

  19. Ahhh shucks! Another one gone. Rest In Peace, Speedy Bill.

RIP... Speedy Bill, and condolences to his family.

  23. Man, I hate to hear this. He was a person that had so much influence and helped so many people over the years. I don't think anyone can replace Bill. I wouldn't have gotten to where I am without his business and their help.:(

I don't agree with some of his methods, but no one can deny that he was a driving force in the racing industry. The museum is one fanastic place to visit. RIP Bill, now you can be with Joyce again,
