    Greetings,

I would like to go to my local NAPA and purchase a pair of tie rod ends such as used in the Speedway Motors Radius Rod kit. However...they need a part number! Can someone tell me a part number and/or the correct vehicle to ask for? I plan to machine my own bungs.

    Thank You in advance.

    Rick.

If you are making your own bungs, step up from the 11/16" car rod end to the 3/4"-16 truck rod end. The part number of the 3/4" is ES150R (Moog & others). They are used on a variety of 3/4 or 1 ton trucks.

11/16-18 is early ford' tell them you need right hand thread tie rod end for a 48-64 Ford 1/2 ton pickup. That is how Speedway lists them.

I didn't notice anger or frustration in the OP, just asking for a part # or year/model vehicle. Seems like a reasonable question to me.

I'm not mad, no progress to be made if one is mad. I called my NAPA with my needs and was told if I had a part number, an example or the year/type of vehicle the search would be simple. I like to buy local..will pay more if it helps my home town. I am in business too...and I appreciate when customers come to me as opposed to an outside source. Thanks for the feed back and info, all has been well received.

  9. 3/4-16 might be easier to get a tap for.

Exactly . The 11/16-16 Tap is an uncommon size. Speedway sells them too, which you are trying to avoid. Take a look at a NAPA # ES150R . It's 3/4-16 thread and fits '65 Ford F100 and should be easy to find. The 3/4-16 tap is T-110 NAPA. Be careful not to get left hand thread tie rod ends too. Also remember you need a make tapered hole to seat the stud into so it doesn't rock in the hole and shear on you

There is a left hand thread and a right hand.

  14. Lets not get started down that rat hole again. There have been numerous long threads about that subject. There is no winning that one, something we must live with nowadays.

The rat hole has been deleted- I was just relating to the OP's story. I'll say 2 Our Fathers, 2 Hail Marys, and go without food and water for 3 days. (It's not easy being Irish Catholic.)
