Technical Speedo ID and where to get the little mile numbers on the dial.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 34 GAZ, Nov 17, 2019.

  1. Made in U.S.A. by AC. division GMC, Flint Michigan. ( found out through the years does not literally mean for a GMC ) No patent numbers. Who knows where i can order the small sticker numbers for on the mileage dial 00000.0 to 99999.9 ? Sorry for the dark pics but you get the general idea.

It looks late 40s/early 50s. The number stickers for a Chevy car or truck from that era should work, the odometer unit was mostly interchangeable for decades on all GM vehicles.

  3. I think that I would just use the stick on numbers that an electrician uses to mark wires. You can get them in different sizes and they would work perfectly.

That said I have a friend who's wife could restore that for you but she would paint it.

    Looks like 1949 Pontiac.
But the gauges are to low.

I think it's Canadian or European it looks like it reads in kilometres.

might be, since the OP is in the Netherlands :)

The odometer number stickers are still the same, though.

It's not Canadian. We didn't use the metric system until the mid '70's.

  8. Thanks guys. I shall see if our DIY stores have those stickers that porknbeaner mentions. I did find some decal sets on U.S. ebay for 1950s Chevrolet . The old numbers i can just blow off . btw, e1956v is correct with the KPH,

The Chevrolet numbers should fit. The wire marker numbers won't fit properly....I wouldn't bother...

  10. Well the dirty old speedo is from a 1950s Volvo PV444. How about that, made in U.S.A.
