What rear spring is that?

 

Hey, Root. This car has the I don't remember rear spring set up. It was about 6 years ago that I put them under the car, but I think it is the Chassis Engineering kit from Speedway. Whatever it is, I had to use a 3 inch block and it is still a little tall for my taste. There is another kit that mounts the springs in a different spot which does not need as much of a lowering block, but I don't know who makes it.

flamedabone, Root, Pete & Jakes rear spring kit should get you where you want to be without the lowering blocks....they mount on inside of the frame rails at front and have 2 mounting points for height adjustment

 

Last we saw my decklid, it was mangled.



Here she is good as new.....Now, you know my dirty little secret, the new lid is glass. Don't tell anybody.

Time to install the roof, which I was not looking forward to.



Special tool to stuff it in the groove.




Done and I won't be doing another any time soon, it kind of sucked.




The block and crank are still in machine shop jail, so not sure when I will have an update.

I'm not sure you will be able to contain your excitement for this update. It is the one you have all been waiting for its.........BRAKES!!! Yes, brakes, the most boring thing on the whole damn car. The block is still in machine shop jail, so I am down to busy work nick knacks. Well, here you go.





All done, pretty exciting....



If I ever get my block back from the machine shop, you are going to see some serious shit.

Lookin' good! I've always been partial to '41 hub caps; I had 'em on my 2nd '36 in '61.

 

Only slightly more exciting than brakes is glass. Don’t really need it unless it rains in the shop. No chop on this car, so I Gold Chained a stock glass kit from Bobs Classic Glass in Oregon.



Everything rolls up, down and out like it should.

I am just about out of busy work. If my guy doesn’t get my block back, I’m gonna have to buy one of those Small Block Chevvie Crate Motors.

FINALLY!!!!!! I got the block back from the machine shop. Spent last weekend banging the short block together.



A few folks asked about the ghetto bellhousing deal.



It looks yucky, but it is doweled to the block and the hole indicated off the crank and the whole shiteree is planed front and back.



Here it is attached to the C-4.



Spacers between the converter and the flywheel and a bushing in the crank to support the converter snout.



Hey look, it fits!! I cannot thank Tony from Ross Racing enough. He was kind enough to let go of some super cool Olds parts and is an absolute library of hard-earned engine knowledge.





And here she sits until after I get back from the Drags.
