We borrowed our motor for our slingshot to build the motor mounts in the truck before the builder was done with the SOHC. We have an Edelbrock 6x2 for it. 390FE with a nice lumpy cam.

It'l never work. The frame is too heavy and the motor is too underpowered.

Another awesome build from the Chicago area boys. I suggest you invite the naysayer about your chassis out to the track during a test and tune session. A couple of runs strapped to the underside of the frame should dispell any thoughts of "inadequate":D

I could see how someone at very first glance could be thinking there could be problems with rotational torque.
But then you have to examine all of the cross bracing and the center tunnel and realize that this engine is mounted extremely well and the trans mounted in tight too making the whole unit rigid.

And that is the real beauty of it in my opinion, that it can still look delicate up front......but it's not.:D

That's why I like looking a their tube work.

    Now there's some engineering.

  18. Just keep the pics comin'.
    I'm taking notes.

  19. How do you do the bends for the kick-up in the rear?
Those are some nice looking rails.

    Thanks Fab32! LOL

The rear, as well as the front, rails are mandrel bent box tube. And are 3/16 wall. All the round tubing is 4130. The entire assembly is GTAW (Tig) welded.

For those that can't see it from my crappy photographs, the scatter shield is solid mounted to the chassis, making the motor/trans somewhat monocoque. As the block is aluminum, and mounted from the skirt mounts, there are urethane bushings in the end of them at the chassis. Mounting any high horse power motor from the skirt solid is a bad idea, as the vibration can crack the skirt. The trans is mounted with a standard rubber mount at the tail shaft. I'm sure a ton of drag racers that made the mistake of running a solid mount on the tail shaft of their trans will profess to the FAILURE the trans experienced. LOL

  21. Damn, I would kill you and feed you to my dogs for that engine.

Very nice. I like how the triangulated center structure goes from the kickup all the way up under the scatter shield. Where'd you source the mandrel bent rect tube? Morrison?
