Well, I pulled apart the car to get to the clutch. Sure enough the pressure plate was smoked. I had a spare so I slammed it in- hoping to wrap it up tomorrow. I like having weekdays off 20240715_193738.jpg 20240715_193719.jpg 20240715_193700.jpg

    Don't over rev flathead motors 20240911_202928.jpg 20240911_202907.jpg 20240911_200428.jpg
One keeper backed out and one keeper is spun around. Cam looks good so fingers crossed. . . .

  6. I might have missed this flipping through this build for the first time, but what is the color/paint? Always thought this kind of cardinal red looks great on a roadster.

I was told to keep mine under 5k rpm. Even that sounds like a screaming flathead.

I believe I've never spun my stock 8 CM over 3500.

Putting it back together, I've learned my lesson. Got the head and intake back on.
Button the rest up later this week 29963.jpeg

11pm starter install. Took parts from 3 starters to make 1. Motor fired right up
Vacuum gauge steady and no noises, phew! Slept well after that

Shakedown run up the street to NECCO show to support veterans. Ran pretty good but I need to tinker with it. Also brakes need to be looked at before I go out again, yikes 20240928_112508.jpg

Had a friend over a couple nights trying to diagnosis regulators this week. Old unit charging too much, brand new unit not charging at all. Put old unit back in aftersome fiddling, now it's working properly (so far). I installed the headlights and made a bracket for the plate and light. Tomorrow I need to look at the brakes and tail lights installation 31089.jpeg 31090.jpeg

Saw your car, I was driving my stock Model A coupe. Un-restored brownish color.

I was contemplating dismantling the roadster for its drive train to put in the not-even-close- to- be- on- the - back - burner yet model40 3 window.
I looked back on this thread and I don't think I could take this car apart, it means too much to me

^^^^ me too...for some reason I can scroll on by a Bootswood 3W with chome everything thread...but shards of dirt and rust dust being welded together gets my interest!:D the doubters, naysayers and "it's a parts car!" people are either frothing at the mouth or rolling over in their graves that you didn't spend 100K but get to have all the fun!

Heading up to the Northeast Vintage Drags at Oxford,Maine at the end of this week. Pulled the car out of it's winter hibernation- a wee bit of battery charge and it fired right up. So far so good

  23. Do you put a Stabil or equivalent additive in the tank before you park for the winter??...Just wondering out loud...
