I think I'm still confused, I'm undecided, I like the craftmanship it would take to build a car like this, but it just hidious, which is the reason I think I like it. see what I mean? Its an ebayer, item # 4621524025 1951 ford convertible w/ alot of mods Customized by Bill Porterfield and appeared in Hot Rod Mag in 57 Do you like? Do you dislike?
They used to call that an abortion, of course that was before RoevWade. I like it better with the lid off than on. But like I said they used to call that. . .
It does have some cool history, but it has some bad proportions too. If I had the balls to take it on as a project, I'd leave all the equipment it had back in it's show days in place, but I'd take out a couple inches of roof height, I'd make the doors stock length again, and I'd cut some wheelbase out, further reducing the length of the front fenders. As-is, it is a pretty wierd looking car. But I think if the proportions were right, it could be pretty cool. Too bad metalwork isn't as easy to do as photoshop is. I think it does deserve a restoration, but I don't think it would do the original builder any dishonor to change a few things. Here's my take.
I dig Squablows rendition. This thing is a big project. If I'd have kept it, it would take some serious redoing. More than I wanted to do.
