Hey everyone in Hamb land, I posted this as part of a thread I had on here a little while back but figured I should make its own thread for you all to see. My dad competed in this back in the 60's and this is the footage of it. Please excuse the music it was on the footage when I got it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBw_h8qvfeA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAIA9m7M3a4&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq-dW6dk6i0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCb_z4SnGtI&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfK6IOl5b2k&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqvfbvW53jI&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td8b-Bl_Tto&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JHReFUKq6U&feature=youtu.be
Some cool as shit old cars in those vids, I remember as a young fella dad taking me to the stock cars just out of Clutha, there was ford coupes, dodges, chevs etc, Tom's (scumdog) a bit older than me, haha, im sure he will recall a bit better than me. Didn't seem like a bad thing back in the day, but hell when I look back now what a bloody waste considering the rarity of some of that old tin now days. Thanks for posting
Yeah, no wonder we can't find a straight old today car Jason! Broke my heart back then to see so many old coupes being trashed - although at least G.T.s coupe was resurected!
This footage is rich like pavlova...too much for one go. Thank you! Did anyone pick out the Citroen Traction Avant? Thought I saw Standards, plenty of Fords American and British, and a BIG '30s Dodge sedan with more windows than a school bus, all going as fast as traction and momentum allowed.
Very interesting racing, unlike anything I've seen before. I loved the footage of them building the track. Where was it located?
Unreal footage, thanks for sharing. Wanganui - when we were kids, about '65, we would bike out there and watch for free from the hillside above.
