Gene’s Hot Rod Parts 1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe

This car was built to resemble a 32 that a kid in the Early 60’s would have built. It’s a basic hot rod with a 283 and 4 speed, F-100 steering, cross springs, drum brakes and bias ply tires that you can jump in and drive. It’s the car that Keith Weesner used for the art work on our T-Shirts.

In the 60’s the coupe was a Cincinnati area hot rod that was channeled, not chopped with a filled roof and cowl vent. It was stored for a long time and 8 or 9 years ago Dropped Axle Productions put it back on the road. Dropped Axle boxed the original frame and built the tubular center section. I bought the car 6 years ago and had the Barillaro Speed Emporium put the body back on top of the frame. Fortunately when it was channeled the sub rails were not completely cut out just split and a vertical piece of sheet metal was welded in to raise the floor. This made un-channeling it just a matter of removing the vertical piece and welding the sub rails back together. The front floor is from BSE and the rest of the floor and wheel wells are from an original 32 roadster so all the sheet metal in the car is 1932 Ford. There are no patch panels.

The chassis has stock front and rear cross members with a stock spring in back and reversed eye spring in front. The frame is c-notched in the rear for axle clearance and notched in the front for spring clearance. The rear end is a 9” Bronco w/ 350 gears and modified early rear bones. The front axle is an original 32 Heavy Axle dropped 5” and drilled by Okie Joe. Front wishbones are split 33/34’s w/ the rear attachment pulled inside the frame and the spindles are round backs w/40 brakes. BSE built the mechanical clutch linkage. The wheels are Early Ford 16” with Firestone 450’s on the front and 750’s on the rear. Caps and rings are 46 Ford. Head lights are original 34 commercials. The #’s on the frame match the #’s on the title.

The motor is a completely rebuilt 1957 Chevy 283 w/ a Comp Cams hydraulic cam. The intake is a very early (Patent Pending no part #) Offenhauser Dual Port and it has early Vette valve covers and early 60’s Vette Ram’s Horn Exhaust. The carb is an Edelbrock 600. The radiator is Walker. The transmission is a rebuilt 1963 T-10 four speed w/ a Hurst Shifter. The motor runs great the tranny shifts smooth and it is a blast to drive.

Other than un-channeling, the body is basically the same as I got it. The top and cowl vent had been filled and the top has not been chopped. The firewall is a nice original that BSE slightly recessed to clear the 283. The grill shell and insert are nice originals and the hood is a decent original. Inside is an original seat and the rear window rolls up & down. The garnish moldings are from an old show car and the chrome plating is starting to flake. The gauges are Limited Edition Classic Instruments Moon Eyes Curved Glass Gauges. These are one of only 750 sets built in 1993 for a “Save The Salt” Promotion.

Please give me a call if you have any questions or need more info or pictures. New owner will get a generous supply of T-Shirts featuring his car. Will consider partial trades for Early Ford cars, projects or parts.
