    Eric

Yes I have two sets of carbs .Trying to figure out which set the beast might like. What Is on there now is a set of repop 715 holleys and then I'll put on the factory set of 780 holleys.I just figured with the altitude it would like the 715's better but we will see.I'll keep you posted.

Always loved those engines...actually did my first reverse engineering project with my 3D scanner/ milling machine from the Testor's model...now it's a scaled up paper weight!

Now I can say I have my own SOHC valve cover :D

    Awesome projects y'all...

Art's work is beyond words. He turned me onto cammers about 4 years ago, now they have become an obsession. He has built some of the best looking cammers around (i.e. Joe MacPhereson's F-100, Mike Martin 3 Window, and so on). Here are a couple pictures of the one he built for me before it was complete. Oh, the T-Bird is Dave Kipp's and the metal work that Squeak has done is unreal. Expect to see this car to grace many covers when complete.

    Well Eric

Finally got the repairs done and back to busniess. After some carb tunning the best we did with the Holley 715's was 615 @ 7000.

Decided to run the 780 factory Holley carbs and was pleasently surprised to find out the old SOHC liked them better.Got 635 @ 7000 .

Did find out later that actual compression Ratio might be as low as 9.3 - 1.
A bit disappointing but should be able to run on pump gas all day long well at least as long as I can afford the 5 MPG

But overall happy with the plus 600 horse.

Heres some pics of one of the broken adjusters

You can see the top of the adjuster had broke off.The bottom was still in the rocker and eventually would have backed out.

Eric I found this full article on this car.Wild stuff. The plug wires are at the bottom of the valve cover. There is no inspection plates,Surge tank on there,Coil is down on the manifold,Factory cast Iron headers[dont have to tell you how rare that is],This engine has external rear oil returns from the heads to the pan,Oil breather in the front cover. It looks like it was a running driving car.True R code car with the 15' hubcaps.

I don't think you could put a price on that one.
It would look good at my house, though!

    Thanks, Kenny!

I saw that Cobra with the cammer a few years ago.

It took a few minutes for it to sink in what I was looking at. I couldn't sleep the next few nights.......

What an engineering marvel those engines are and yet so simple....

Looks like a friend of mine's - but I moved away years ago and haven't seen him in ages. I know he still has it - he'd never sell it.
