Afternoon gents, So I’m looking to do the seats on my 55 customline. (Fold down split bench/back seat) And was wondering what are some ballpark figures cost wise. I’ve dealt with engine/trans rebuilds, bodywork brakes etc but never upholstery. I know quality of work drives the price up but what is considered a decent cost? Anyone have any recommendations? This will be a street driven car, Not show quality. Thanks!
Nachos is an old school valley standby. I think it's on Victory Blvd. I've never had anything done there...many years ago I took something for an estimate and almost fell over it was so high...but I think they like to negotiate, so they start high.
Check out my friend Leo, he is cross town in Whittier and at least you can get a ballpark figure. He did my 41 and numerous other cars over the years and is really chill...nice guy! Check him out on Facebook...Leo's Trim Custom Upholstery.
An estimate will be just that. I just had my 56 seats only done and I supplied the broad cloth material. Everything under the seats needed replacement ei: all pading, burlap etc and some spring repair and additional ones under the driver area (a good idea). If your looking at stock material SMS in Oregon will have it. Look at least a grand if all of it need to be done. Juan's in Garden Grove did mine in Orange County.
For inexpensive upholstery that looks nice I recommend Garza's Upholstery Address: 14960 Valley Blvd, La Puente, CA 91746 Phone: +1-626-333-6217 They did many cars for me and I was never disappointed. When the old man ran the shop you did not make an appointment but showed up in the morning. first come first served. There is a little coffeeshop down the street where you just hang out and then pick up your car. They would do the whole interior of an American car door panel, dash and all in half a day with some 20 guys working on your car. It was amazing. Very, very much recommended. Last thing he did for me was the seat in my '62 FORD F-100 for $150. I had widened a Mitsubishi mini truck seat and he needed to fix the foam and make new patterns.
I had Ramirez upholstery in Bloomington do the Glide engineering seat frame in my '39 p/u. Took them a bare frame and they did all the foam and stich work. Nothing over the top but not just flat service either. I'm very happy with the work. Total cost was $550.00
David Gutierrez in El Monte, Ca. 91731 (626) 602-6084 He does top notch quality work. Super chill dude to work with.
I envy you to have so many choices. Here in NE. other than a couple of high end shops the selection of quality shops for the average guy is almost non existent. Sometimes CA has it's advantages.
