Hot Rods So this followed me home this weekend

Don't know much history on it other than it was supposedly built in the late 50's and has a "recently" rebuilt 401 nailhead.

Is that the stock length for the bed on whatever year truck that is?

 

I haven't put a tape on it but I think it's a few inches shorter than stock
And it's a 37 with a 38 sedan front end... I have been told it was a popular mod back in the day

Wow, I love that. I need a truck like that to follow me home.

 

It does look abbreviated behind the fenders and a bit short on the bed rail unless I am imagining things. I like it regardless.

Whoever grafted the '38 Standard front clip onto the '37 cab did a good job. Looks factory. I always liked the '38 Standard front sheet metal.

Absolutely love the trucks with passenger car front sheet metal, whoever did the work on the truck did a fantastic job, it actually looks like it came from the factory. HRP

 

That looks like it could bring some joy to the new owner. You didn’t ask so I won’t chime in with changes that I would make if it was mine, but do you have a list for the white board, that would make it more “your” truck?

 

if that truck was truly built in the 50s it was high end build and certaintly stood the test of time enjoy

Only had it a couple of days and only had the chance to drive it once or twice.
I need to do a proper shake down cruise.
But...The short list so far is:
Proper tailgate
Remove wood box from bed
Add a tach
Figure out what I want to do about the non syncro 3 speed
Investigate options for a rear bumper

 

Yepper, that is NICE !!! Envy is a word that comes to mind ........... Love it!

I never have anything that nice follow me home….. I’m always having to start from ground up with the ones that do

 

Considering selling my Dodge Dually Diesel and build an old Dodge truck for a driver and parts hauler since I really don’t use the Dually anymore. Would love to find either a 48 or 52 Dodge pickup. Have fun with this one, love everything about it.

Love the truck, and agree fully with your plan, especially the pipe bumper and expanded steel tailgate. If you took pictures directly from the front and the back I don't think I would have realized it was the same truck. Gonna look extra great after those tweaks.

 

A Covered Bridge tour on Oct 14, starts Westminster MD Mission Barbecue 11:30 AM. After some roadkill, the tour begins. Maybe good for a shakedown if not already done by then. Info should be on MD Hambers soon.

Cool truck...congrats. I had to look at that front end closely, it's almost reminiscent of a '38 International...but nicer with better headlight treatment!
