Projects So it’s ugly and I don’t care

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by anthony myrick, Apr 9, 2021.

  1. My students think I’m. crazy.
It’s started out as a student just sanding this thing to paint it, but it just looked like a boring old air cleaner.
We built a pattern months ago to do something like this but never did anything with it. So from lunch to now plus a faculty meeting we pooped this Picasso of and air cleaner.

Mighty creative. Is there a full 14" element in there?

BATMAN; "Hey Robin, put this air cleaner on the Batmobile".
ROBIN; "What? Are you smokin' crack?"

    Actually, I think it's pretty cool:cool:

Sounds like the best use of a faculty meeting I’ve ever heard of!

  9. Nothing ugly about that air cleaner, what do you plan on installing it on? HRP

Great job Hotrodders...I guess the bottom could be modded to fit any number of single or dual carb setups or even tri-power depending on its diameter...but I think based on your Air Filter it is smaller than it seems...the pattern certainly could be applied to any diameter one may desire...What's next in line Paint, Pinstriping and screens in the ports?

  12. We’ll paint it black. Then pin stripes later.
The air air cleaner is 14 inches round and 6 inches tall. It’s off a 454.

Reminds me of a custom Pontiac from the '60s but I can't specifically remember which one.

Looks good from here! Maybe black with a chrome top if you come across one.

I think it looks pretty damn cool for a single 4bbl air cleaner. I would give them an “A”. Nice creativity & execution.

Ya, your right, that sure is ugly. So I'll do you a favor. Ship it to me and I'll take care of it.

    Adds horsepower!

Oh, and, the air cleaner's not ugly but that big old HEI sure is...

  26. I got a small cap distributor with electronic guts.
    Might have to use it.
Once I get the drive line angle finalized we’re gonna raise the air cleaner up.
Also adding a carb spacer, mainly to help insulate for the corn fuel

  27. That freaking awesome man. And the chances are nobody else has one like it, and to me that's cool ;)

    We still have it.
I still want to build it.
Got tons of crazy ideas for it.
    I fell into a 375hp 472.
I want to keep it all caddy.
Caddy intakes are easy to build. Lots of carbs
