Hot Rods So, if you WERE going to run red wheels with white walls, what color would you paint the car?

    Other than black?

This little car has gotten in my head lately and I keep imagining it in other colors.

Cream, tan and dove grey keep popping up. But, a good burgundy or even silver maybe?

Got any thoughts or pics of classy looking colors that complement the red & white?

    Thanks in advance.

    Flat, dark charcoal grey. :D

Joking aside, I would stick with a more neutral color if possible.

  4. I know this isn't the popular way of thinking but I am tired of the red wheel thing. So over done, trite, everywhere. But hey, that's just me, do what you want. To answer the question, the car pictured is about the only color they look good on.

Red wheels with WWW, what an original idea, never seen it done before. Now that the BS is done, like the man said, what ever makes your sticker peck up. They can go with about any color car, just look at the rainbow of factory colors on 50's cars and alot of them came with red wheels. The only guy you have to please is you!

    Haters gonna hate!! :p

I'm going red wheels with wide whites on my '29 roadster on deuce rails, at least for the time being. Probably going to run it in red oxide primer.

That said, my favorites with that wheel combo is black, red, burgundy, and some blues.

  14. Pick a color you like-just my humble opinion but if you are building it like the example above-I would stay with a solid color

Save a lot of money and go without whitewalls but to answer your question, super shiny black.

I realize that some people consider red wheels and ww overdone, but I still love the look. I think almost any color would go great with that combo............well, maybe not PINK ! I have seen blue, tan, black, etc with red wheels and they all look good to me.

Can't believe we are talking of matching the wheel color instead of the opposite.
Black looks perfect but here's another choice. 1936 Ford Cream.

  24. Red compliments well with many different colors..hence the popularity of them.
    .
I can understand searching for color ideas if a person is color blind, other than that, it has to be the owners personal taste, which may or may not be a popular choice.

I vote for dark blue, like what's on the flag. Not just because it's patriotic, but because I think dark blue looks good with red and white. Maybe even darker blue, like almost black.

  26. I change wheels more often then underware. Love red wheels with whitewalls go on everything. So do real mags with blackwalls and love chrome reverse on whitewalls wires ect. The easy way to have a lot of cool rods with just the one. So paint your ROD the color you like the best. just say en LOVE THAT 36

Theres will be Haters! The reason you see so many red wheels is because Its been done forever and will still be popular 50 years from now, It the same thing as a car with nice rake or using a deuce shell. Theres just some things that work and red wheels are one of them.

o_O Hater ? I don't like red wheels or whitewalls but I think that is a personal choice. Just because I'm not one of the ones that make them "popular" does not necessarily mean that I am a "hater". :)

  30. Sub Lime

Just pic a color if you don't like the color you got. The whole deal behind red wheels was to stick out.
