Late last Thurs night I was checking CL for what kind of junk was for sale when I came across what I thought was a joke, 41 Zephyr 3 window, 63k original for a rust bucket price. I called first thing the next morning and drove pretty fast for an hour and a half to look at it. As soon as I got there the guy's phone was ringing off the hook, at least 20 calls in 15 minutes. I plopped down some cash and went to pick it up today. It ended up the guy's grandfather bought it in 59 when the original owner traded it in. It also ended up I knew his grandfather well before he passed many years ago, I had been working a deal to buy his Locomobile.
The Lincoln is pretty nice, zero rust, very straight and has a very nice leather interior. I'm thinking it might be a Custom model which they made 90 of in 41, will be checking with the Zephyr club on that. The other odd thing about the car is the rear wheel openings, no provision for the huge Zephyr skirts. You can reach up inside the fender and feel where the opening is supposed to be. Someone told his grandfather that you could get these without skirts, I don't know. It's been off the road since 84, started occasionally. Even came with the original registration from 41, plates are 56 and are are pretty cool number.
My plans are to keep it as is, too nice to screw with, although it might look good just a couple of inches lower,

    I saw that.

It was a pretty amazing price. I thought it was either a joke or a scam of some sort.

    Congrats!

Where in Oregon are you? I would love to see this car in person some time.

That's painfully sweet. I don't want to know what a rust bucket price is.

  13. That is a thing of beauty. Awesome score!

Great score! Some people would say that you were lucky...but luck happens when preparedness meets opportunity. Your time searching CL has paid off nicely.

Thanks! Also came with an extra OD transmission and instrument cluster. BTW, this is the first 2 tone Zephyr I've seen, it is factory, got a paint chip page with it. Anyone seen another?
Shooter, you're more than welcome to come out, I'm in Canby. Shoot me a pm for contact info.

Its so rare to see them original. And with the original motor too. Awesome interior/exterior color combo as well. You have a rare car... enjoy the feeling.

It must be karma कर्म. All I ever see on CL is ads written by morons and black cell phone pics.

CL is loaded with Zephyrs that where I found mine about a year ago. I was lucky and was first one there. Nice score welcome to the club.

  28. WOW Nice score congrats!!

  29. Not knowing much about Zephyrs, what is the knob in the usual turn signal location?
    Does it have a Columbia?
    Nice score, by the way.
