Hot Rods So i found this old buick...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by scotty t, Nov 5, 2021.

  1. It looks like an abandoned custom. Looks like it’s been chopped, rear wheel wells radiused. Someone even chromed the convertible top frame. Next week i’m cutting the front stub off for some new rails to fit a straight axle, and a BBC. Probably flat black it. Mustang buckets etc. It’s a 53 skyhawk or something like that, but who cares GASSER!!

Looks like a 53 Skylark to me...... The radius on the rear wheel wells came like that. Pretty rare car and valuable restored.

I hope you are kidding about building a gasser out of it.

I know you're full of shit about your plans, but I am not full of shit when I say this car gets me all tingly in my no-no place. Would love to hear the real story.

  6. It’s got a V8 already, i thought all those cars had a straight 8. I’ve got a big turbo i might use on it.

  7. I think it already has a narrowed rear end, the wheels are set in pretty far. You know i could just drop it on a 90’s roadmaster frame and bag it. It does say roadmaster on the back

Naw, that thing is screaming for a 4x4 chassis.

  9. No way man it’s gonna be a traditional gasser

Perhaps you are pulling our legs, perhaps not. But these Roadmaster Skylarks were a limited production model, numbering about 1700 or so. All the features you mention were alterations done by GM to create/convert the Roadmaster ragtop to the Skylark. Well restored Skylarks range as high as $150,000. As for V8/Straight 8, 1953 was the transition year. The Special Series got the carryover straight 8. The Super and Roadmaster models got the then new 322 V8.

If you are serious, I sincerely hope you will have a change of heart.

When you say traditional gasser, I sure hope you mean 3 feet high, with bolt-on 10 spokes up front and tall back bucket seats, a Moon tank in the grille, flat black, and of course vinyl graphics!

I think 53 was the first year for the Nailhead.

Scotty t, please do your homework on this car before cutting it up. As Hnstray said, these are rare and worth a lot of $$. If you don't want to restore it, you can likely sell it for enough to finance your next project. I love hot rods but this is not a car to cut up and hot rod.

Hopefully, you ARE yanking our chains.

You frightened me for a moment but since today is April 1st I'll go
along with the gag. By the way, let Prince Albert out of the can,
    he'll suffocate.

Does the tail end look like this...

I seem to remember reading about how Dan Woods would buy those cars for their wire wheels.

    Showoff.
We know you're kidding, cause you don't want to end up like Joe Pesci did at the end of Casino.

  23. OK it’s almost time to go in for the evening. As you all know this was just a joke. My buddy found this 53 skylark out west somewhere. He knows what he has and he knows what to do with it. I do not have permission to share any details and as of now it is NOT for sale. The chrome reverse wheels he put on it for rollers made me think to joke about. Sorry:D

Buy it and put an electric motor in it, you can race project X with it. straight axle and all . Paint it like greased lightning and it will be a show stopper....

Lol. I personally feel like there is too little joking and shenanigans going on these days. Maybe that’s why when we do joke around, people just assume we’re serious. That’s just my opinion, and I’m not joking. :D:D

  29. You’re right, when was the last time you saw the bunny with a pancake on his head posted here?
