Not the best head for performance, small intake runners and prone for cracking.

Looks like the pan bolts are mostly missing, just thrown together? The block has the 010 020 under the cam gear, that's a good sign. Most guys wont offer too much without knowing if it passes a crack test though.

That would be a good block to work with if its good, check casting # on crank to see if its forged or not.

Take the pan off, and look near one of the main saddles, may have to rotate the crank to see it.

Also, the wide and narrow parting line is an easy way to tell if forged or not. This pic may not be for GM as for the rounded counter weights, but for sure for the parting lines. crankshaftid.jpg

Yes, right area. The crank might have to be rotated if you can not see any numbers on it in the current position. The main caps are cast with the 3951# , the #2482 main caps are the cats meow as they are nodular.

I believe the front two main caps are installed backwards, the arrow should point to the front of the engine.

    a rare 2 bolt 010 block! neat.

Might be worth a few hundred bucks to someone. Figuring out the condition of the parts on something like that is a real challenge.

I think the 010/020 thing is an old wives tale. I’d like to see definitive information that supports that claim.

CNV and the partial VIN 10J... means it's a 2bbl 350 from a 1970 full size Chevy car. Nothing to write home about, and would explain the 2 bolt mains (truck 350s with the 010 block almost always had 4 bolt mains).

The 010 020 thing on the front of the block is simply the last three digits of the block casting numbers that used that particular mold pattern for the end of the block. Has nothing at all to do with what type of iron was used in the casting.

the important parts of the VIN are the 10J, which means Chevy car, 1970, assembled in Janesville.

Like I said before, someone might give you a few hundred bucks for it.

you mean, like it's not put together?

It's easier to sell a running engine. You have pretty much a collection of parts.
