I got all these small block chevy parts when I bought a 59 impala 4dr and a 59 el camino. he threw in all this small block chevy stuff but I don't have a clue what it all is. I wrote down all the numbers and figured some of you fellas could tell me if it's worth keepin.
    here goes,
    head numbers
    8917291 and cast below is L 19/7-1ea
    3847040 and cast below is C8 8 -1ea
    3911032 -2ea
    engine blocks
    numbers stamped in pad.
VIOI2ME and cast in the back is 3882657 the bore measures 3.93.
VO2O9EB and cast in the back is 3892657 bore is 4.055
    bell housing
    F168 and 3741311
the crankshafts didn't have any numbers except 039 in one of the steel cranks and the cast crank has 3932442 cast in it. there are two steel cranks and one cast crank. is there anywhere special to look for numbers on these. here are some pics if it helps.

I use http://www.mortec.com/ for Chevy casting numbers. http://www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sbch.html Has good stuff too.
    Here's what I could find.

    Heads:
    3911032 - 1968 - 307/327 - 70cc chamber
    8917291 - 1968 - 350 - 64cc chamber - 1.94/1.50 valves

    Blocks:
    3892657 - 1967 - 302 - 2 bolt

    Cranks:
    3932442 - 267,305,350 - cast - medium journal - 3.48" stroke

The other stuff was not listed.

    Googling came up with this:

    Bellhousing:
    3741311 - 1958 - Cast Iron GM Part #3750809 *THIS IS A 348 BELLHOUSING*

I went and looked at the block again and it looks more like a 9 than a 8. So how do you tell if it is a 302-327-350 or does it make a difference. Is any of this stuff worth trading or is it just garbage.
    thanks

327s seem to be worth a few bucks these days. It might take some effort on your part to sort everything out and sell it for top dollar, but it could be worth it.
