This project is AWESOME. Thanks for taking the time to post such detailed pictures of the build. I know how it feels to try and rush a project along before the winter hits. Our winters in Lake Superior are harsh as can be, and Ive always dreamed that when I grow up I will install a heater in my garage too haha. Even though you may question the cost now, just think of the luxury it will bring when you can bring your heated garage up to a balmy 40F haha. The projects will fly out the door!

Awesome job, thanks again for sharing

A bit OT but finished up the gas line for the radiant heater a couple days ago, I finally have a warm place to work this winter:cool: A little insulation left to put in and then I'll be working nightly on the coupe.

well your warm now lets see some inspiration...
Seriously though people underestimate how importat it is to have your shop/garage warm for the winter. I went out and bought a small torpedo heater last winter, just to knock the edge off when its down in the single digits.

  5. For years I had a propane fired hanging heater that I only fired when I was going to work.

Couple years ago I switched to a natural gas hanging unit that I keep set at 50 and bump up when working.

I found that I spent more time working and actually got something done.

I think that is due to several things, the garage is warm enough to work right away, the parts, tools, and etc are not ice cold, and of course you need to justify the added expense
of full time heat (which really was not much more).

It's easy to get something done, even if you only have a short time, due to the more comfortable working conditions.

Decided to make the firewall and weld it in. Still some finishing left to do but it's looking better than what I had I think.

Thanks man. Nope on the floor. It won't be much to make the skeleton for it and lay the sheets. I have a whack of aluminum and copper rivets so may go that way, with a wrap around leather bench seat instead of bombers again.

I thought of shaving the chevrolet script but then it just loses the cool factor. I'll be impressed if someone can identify what the dash "was" originally when I start driving the car.

Yes. I made a couple 1" spacers to fit underneath the steering arms. I've got plenty of room from the balancer now. I used a heavy wall DOM for the spacers.

There was enough clearance on the balancer at ride height before but I wanted to cover my butt in case of a bag failure.

You built that dash out of a tailgate?

    Nope, not a tailgate. It was a grill from a 60s c80 1 ton

Scored a set of original guide lights from the Spokane swap, a good buy for 50 bucks but pretty banged up. Hammered out the dents, rant them through the English wheel and hand filed them after. Looking good now and ready for paint.
