My roadster (now) that I first saw in 1957. I remember it beating the fuel injection (stock) Corvettes at Colton -- turning just over 100. I've had it 55 years now, holding multiple records at El Mirage and Bonneville. (Probably worth more in the previous condition.)
I had no idea the 6 cylinders were so popular back then. Do a lot of people still play with them? I have a howard intake like the one in the picture. I thought about selling it.
Yes, they were pretty popular back then because a lot of manufacturers made speed parts for them. Today, at mostly nostalgic events you'll see many of them there and in specific racing classes such as Bonneville a resurgence of them are making them popular again.
Here's another angle of it at a car show in Denver - Joe and Mike built some dang nice cars for sure.
Bruce Sizemore owned and drove this car to many national event wins back in the early 70's and I believe this car could run 11.20's all day long and put many small block Chevrolet on the trailer during eliminations over the years. The engine was a real piece of engineering with the two heads welded together. Bruce was a great guy who I was lucky enough to get to know him over the years. Jimbo
Has anyone posted any pictures of Earl Britts old "Pizza Man" corvette with the 6 cyliner Pontiac engine? Jimbo
