Pretty much. My back has never been that robust to begin with, but I can function and do all the things I want to. Take it easy and be patient when recovering and go through physical therapy if needed. One more suggestion - get back in that car and drive it like it is your last day on earth .

  4. You know as neat as that was it was a huge disservice to others in the class.
D /D is a six cylinder class and folks that is a 12 cyl race car no matter how you slice it. I remember this well. My boss at the time Harry Wilson had run a record time with his 300 Ford six D/D. Two days later this car in your photo took the record . Harry was so mad he sold the car to a parade clown company and it took till last year to even get him to come to the drags again.

I guess that you have the right to have your opinion about the twin 6's, but we were running a single engine car, and when it was to be that twins was the way to go, we went that rout. We made the switch and were very fortunate to come up with a good enough setup to also hold the record in the class. 41.PNG 52.PNG 52.PNG

NHRA says it's weight and cubic inches so what is the problem. The Amarillo guys were casual racers like everybody else in that class. I guess they weighed more and had more power.

I just love the sound of that 6. It brings back a lot of memories.

That body was built from a '36 Willys cowl and grille panel.
