  5. It is hard to explain the feeling I get looking at pictures of rusted abandoned , picked over old cars and trucks . I think it is a shared feeling by most all car guys . Its just something about these old cars that allows one to let your mind travel through the possibilities and history of these "yard art" pieces of Americana. Sentiment , wonderment , and even sadness comes to mind . Placed in nature , surrounded by weeds, snow, and lonely settings they just have a way of satisfying us car guys. Even in their last deteriorating days they represent a time of yesteryear and the way it was. For us older gents viewing these cars really brings back memories at times. Thanks to all who post up these frozen moments in time .

Thank you for sharing. You did a great job putting into words the nostalgia I feel when I see lonely old cars that have been forgotten to time.

  7. Some of the cars posted by Maverick Daddy look like they were just driven to where they are and parked. Like the '63 Chevy and the '53-'54 Plymouth/

  13. Thank you. I am happy to know you share the same feelings . The pics member Rusty Heaps posted are really crisp and captured well in the woodsy scenes. They gave me the feeling of just wanting to be there. I can look at finished shiny cars/trucks and I do not get feel the same sentiment . I feel that the gap in time that these vehicles sit rotting is a space I tend to reflect on in my own life . Growing up and experiencing these ole cars is what defines me today. .....just an ole car guy body with a 20 year olds mind appreciating life through pictures of the past.

  14. Same for me.

Just think what they looked like the day they were brought to the "grave yard". Fine condition, many of us today would think, hauled in by an old guy with tobacco stains on the front of his bibs, behind a home made wrecker with 6 different tires on it, and parts strewn all over the bed. Ahh, the good old days !

  17. Yeah, I'll bet most of us can remember strolling through the junkyards in the 50s and 60s and seeing rust free and a lot of times undamaged vehicles there. A lot of times it was just the engine or trans worn out and it wasn't worth fixing at the time. I can't believe some of the rare and valuable cars I saw just set and decay into the ground. If only I could go back in time for a day......:(

That Chrysler looks similar to the Clif Inman 57 Chrysler, that one's always has been one of my favorites. 16153872518787932147975140486556.jpeg

  23. All of these are at Yarbrough's Auto Parts at Cedartown GA (actually closer to Aragon but on a Cedartown mail route. That old pilot house Dodge ton and a half has a Hemi in it. Other than the mid-60s Dodge 4 door, most of these are pretty rough and picked clean of the good stuff. I got some good stuff off the '55 Ford Customline and the '57 Merc for my '55 Ford. Still a lot of good stuff on the '60 Merc. The '47 Ford still has complete front axle/suspension, rear end, steering column and box, and trans. The late '40s Plymouth coupe would be good for somebody wanting to build a replica vintage race car and not wanting to mess up a decent body.

I have a thing about wacky car/wagon to truck conversions. This one may have been pretty decent back in the day.
