I hope this is the right place to post this.. For many years I have taken pictures of old cars and trucks in fields, gullies, wrecking yards etc. I have hundreds. In the late 1980's I was able to visit a long closed salvage and scrap yard in Lone Oak, Texas owned by Hubert Dodd. He was elderly and lived like a hermit. I could buy anything out of there but you did not argue price. Stuff was cheap enough, but there were literally tons of cars, parts, and cut up metal. I took a lot of pictures. Finally he passed away and in 1990 everything was auctioned off. These are pictures of just some of the cars and trucks there, some of the stuff I rescued (limited funds) and finally what happened to the rest, Made me sick to see but I thought it important to get a record of it. And I have another set of pictures of a similar situation at a yard in west Dallas in the 1990's. I saw this on Facebook, so it has to be true - person says "we found this while on a hike" in Wilson County, TN. No, I don't think I believe it at all, but I'll post it up so you can rag on me for doing so. And, just in case this has been posted before, let me know and I’ll take it down. 90692948_10157334229482060_2515354151022493696_n.jpg 90356733_10157334229492060_1124558244958699520_n.jpg

Wouldn't it be neat that along with all the other millions of tax dollars spent on city parks and sports venues each state would create vintage tin parks with a lot of this stuff arranged in neat rows that we could visit and ooh and aah over instead of demanding that it be crushed? After all old cars are just as much of the American story as old buildings and sites!!

  8. That Vette may be the end result of a stolen and stripped car, then the remains hidden in the woods. There is a canyon near where I used to live that was full of stolen muscle cars that were stripped of the good parts and pushed over the cliff. It was cleaned out a few years back by using helicopters.

I don’t think that’s Mercury trim on the 53 Special. Unless you’re seeing something else.

  14. This 37 coupe has been sitting at least since 2008. Denny says he wants $2500 for it. Original frame is under it but it's really rusty. There's another full frame under the original frame! It's a lot better. sorc15_37forddennyconnor.jpg

  15. The body on that '37 coupe looks more solid than most you find sitting outside. The frames on '35-'40 cars were bad to rust out where the back legs of the X member meet the side rails just in front of the arch over the rear axle. If you use the other frame, you'll probably have to register the car by the serial number on that frame even if it's a different year frame. Friend of mine has a '27 Model T roadster pickup built from the front half of a touring car he pulled out of a ravine. He mounted it on a '29 Model A frame. Had to register it as a '29 (this is in Alabama) because that was the only serial number on the car--Ford didn't put the serial number on the body back then.
