A 53 Merc. Just don't see too many 52-54 Mercs. Someone needs to save this. I'd be trying to make a deal if I was closer.

This one is very rare...it's a 52 Monarch, Canadian produced, and is a very low production car to begin with. I'm currently building the 53 Monarch 2-door sedan version of this 52, and found this one when looking for parts. It's actually a way better body than mine, but the owner won't sell unless he gets over $10,000 for it (not a typo). So there it sits.....

Would love to see some pics. I have a 52 Merc. Looks almost identical to that one except mine still has all the glass.

A Monarch is just a Merc with different badges and maybe some chrome trim changes. It's Canadian thing....

We had Ford Mercury Dealers and Meteor Monarch dealers. Same cars different franchises. There were other Canadian names such as Frontenac I think.

Our Pontiacs were actually Chevys that looked like Pontiacs back then as well.... And Chevelles were sold as Beumonts at the Buick dealerships and on and on etc...

9647581377_8bf0e641f4_z.JPG Here's an example of the front end of a 52 Monarch. Very similar to the Mercury, just a lion hood ornament and small triangular grille piece along with the crown hood badge. In 53, the bumper bullets were spread apart further than the Mercury, and had distinct 'teeth' above the bumper. Very minor, but distinct for sure!

That wag looks to be a good project, wish it were in my back yard.

  18. Noticed this beside a gas station in a small rural town, I have no idea what it is. JW

Note the Pontiac Parisienne next to the Monarch. Top of the line Canadian Pontiac convertible.

  20. Man that brings back memorys The very first big truck I ever owned was a 46 ford. It had a Sears Allstate rebuilt flathead 8. it was a 24 stud 1953 engine with adjustable lifters. granny four speed and vacuum shift two speed rear end. I still have the flathead (cracked) and the front clip.

Looks a lot like the grill I have hanging on my garage wall from a 1936 Donnet, but I doubt very much it is one, this one looks like a big truck, Donnet never built any truck.

  23. Id love to have this Merc....no chance in hell of me getting to it tho lol

  24. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like an old fire truck with that cowl and windshield. Maybe Pirsch, American LaFrance, or Pierce?

Thanks for the kudos! It's not my shop truck, but ironically my buddy made a deal for it and started to build it into a nice cruiser, until someone else gave him a price he couldn't refuse!

I would've loved it too, and the $2,000 asking price was reasonable, but I just have no where to put it with all the cars I have on the go already!
