Ya, it probably isn't fair to call them "sitting and rotting" either since they are owned by collectors who actually restore their stuff.....eventually.

Here's one that probably will just rust into the ground.

Guy across the street from my folks had a Dodge truck, similar vintage that sat so long, not only did the oak bed rot off, but there were saplings growing up through it. I can't remember if it had a hemi in it or not.

Here's an old truck
I read the name on it about a year ago when I took the pic, but it escapes me now

 

*sad* memories...

Back in 1989 I sold one prettier'n that with my Edsel's cracked 223 engine in it for $100.

I'd actually got two Ford pickups (a running '57 & a '59 without engine) in trade for a motorcycle I'd been riding to work. The '57 was a pile of rust and mold, except the running gear, which I saved.

I'd only paid $50 for the bike, as the bike's PO had put the slides in the wrong carbs (thus facing them backwards) & the poor idiot couldn't start it! His loss, my gain...

The tired '57 223 truck engine wound up in my '59 Edsel, and she ran for another 20,000 without smoking much. (Thanks to STP) so I came out OK on the deal, but I sure would like that '59 truck back.

 

I have to say that at least 'Mater's teeth don't seem to be rotting

been watching/looking at this Studebaker for awhile.....now.....to the right the property line marker and look just over the seat.....

 

you can barely make out the left side of the truck from the road because of the trees....

 

they are building something big on the tractor side.....wonder how long the scap will last.....v/8 three on the tree truck.....reaaaally ruff....

 

I have my grandpas old Stude Champ pickup. Cool truck. Yes, that one ^^^^^^is rough.

 

Now that is sitting and rotting!
