I could not believe the story when Mike D called me and sent me pics of everyone tearing down... Sorry the rest of our Sinners Phoenix crew could not make it. Sounds like a great time even for that one day of breakdown would have been fun to tear 2 cars down and make that final last leg home.. Glad all my brothers made it back safely as well as all of you who made this trip....Welcome Scrap Iron! .. Sidney thanks for helping the brothers out if you are on here.....

Well Canada Jay just left Tucson heading towards vegas. Sidney went out close to 80 miles with his trailer to pick up jay on the side of the road, towed him into town, fed him, opened up the shop to him, and drove him all over town from place to place trying to get the car on the road again. He got back on the road yesterday into Tucson and is heading towards Viva this evening.......

The people of Texas have once again left a very good impression of their great people. And even with all this that went on Jay says he's definitely driving back to LSRU next year again. all of this was worth it!!!

Great story guys... LoL... that first pic says it all! "why me" or "#!$@ *#$!^" I think one thing we have to remember is like in H.O.G.. If you see anybody broke down,STOP to help. It might be you on the road next time. We are running old cars from the old times and with that is the old time help and service from that era. We are all to busy to help now a days thinking the next guy will help or I have to many things to do, I cant help. Let's keep America great... Stop and Help out. who knows you might make a life time friend.

What a great story. And to think this good samaritan might have gotten flamed had he shown up some places in his car. These guys were blessed with his help and I appreciate how grateful and appreciative they are for that help. Car guys who came together for the good of a couple of strangers - or are there really any strangers within the "car" world? I know they will be much more aware of the needs of others in the future and perhaps some day they will touch lives like Sidney did. Thanks for sharing your story. I will look forward to meeting you guys at some future event.

  13. AMEN, helping a fellow hotrodder out! We could learn from this wonderful story. I still do not like Texas as a state but the folks there rule!!!

Just found this thread, neat stuff.

As for the building in Ozona, that building houses some of the toys belonging to Tom Mitchell, owner of the Circle Bar Truck Corral complex that owns the #14 NASCAR truck team that Rick Crawford drives for.
Tom Mitchell is a long time hot-rodder, and has either owned or sponsored racing for years.
It's been a few years since I've been out that way, but at one time there was an early 80's NASCAR thunderbird that was driven by Chet Fillip of San Angelo, and also a mid-80's Indy car when they raced that circuit. Cars were always light blue with orange trim.
In addition to those, at one time, there was 70's vintage sprint car, a pickup with a side oiler in it, and a couple more things that escape me right now.
Mitchell was FORD, period. And beyond the Circle Bar complex, he also has vast land holdings, and oil and mineral rights.
There is still a shop on that property that was once the race shop, and has some more of his stuff in it.
