I've had many members ask this question of me. If I race a gasser, do I run alky or gas? I welcome all comments cause thats just the way I am. Lippy:D

Your opponent on the line might care but I've never bothered too much with what I can't see.

I think I'd draw the line at electric power though.

Well...this probably isn't very helpful...BUT:rolleyes:....out of all the members the Central State Gasser Association had (about 60) and all the members the Gas House Gang have (round 55)....I can only think of two cars running quicker than 11's in the 1/4 which ran/run gas. Seems to be the cutoff. 11 and above run gas and 10.99 and quicker run alcohol. Nobody in the stands seem to mind much.:D Hell everybody seems to really dig my signature "smellum" I add in to mine!!!

I assume we're talking more about build style than class rules?

I run nitro. As I said, others have often asked me why do gassers run alky now. I personally think when it comes to race cars, gas is for washing parts, alky is for drinking and nitro is for racing. As I said, others have asked me why Gassers run alky now. I didn't have an answer for them and just figured since this is a traditional hotrod site I could get some answers. Or some opinions . I welcome all answers and opinions so we can all form our own. Thanks for participating! Lippy

It's runs cooler and is easier on parts. It's also cheaper even though you have to run twice as much. Drag racers keep it simple.

  15. I run gas in my gasser. I am building a AA/GS car now and that will get alcohol...guess it depends on how fast you want to go and how much you want to spend...

I understand Don, but is it traditional? As I stated since we are a traditional site here. I had someone ask me when do we bend the traditional rules to suite ourselves. BTW, bitchin willy's. Lippy

Nitro goes up and down, For instance I bought a drum from Dale Pulde back when the olympics were in china. Yes, that china. I picked it up at Tom Hanna's in Wichita. It was $1850 a drum for 53 gal of pure 100%. With shipping which was $300. Soooo. I think it's around $700 a drum now as It fluctuates like gold and silver. Then you need a drum of alky to cut it with.:D Speed costs money blah, blah, blah. Lippy

Well one thing about it is that the day of wheeling by the station in town to fill the gas jugs for the race car with "the good gas" are long gone.

Boy your right about that. But the cost of race gas Is not that high considering you use a lot more alky per run. Probably about the same I'd say. Course we don't use much alky. Back to the question. :)

Junior Fueler dragsters no longer run Nitro, so why shouldn't Gassers run Alky?
