For those who are too lazy to go to the website:

5th Annual Silver City Shakedown Pre 1965 Traditional Hot Rod and Custom Show: Brought to you by The Others Car Club. This event will be held June 13, 2015 at The Meriden Police Benevolent Association (PBA), 75 Birdsey Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450. There will be Bands, a Burlesque Show, Vendors, Food Trucks and a demonstration on how to chop the roof an early Ford Model A.

40’s ‘50’s ‘60’s era styled builds. THINGS THAT ARE OK: Fiberglass bodies-that look like “real cars”, Modern drivetrains under closed hoods, Pantina’d/ barn find styled cars. THINGS THAT ARE NOT OK: No visible BILLET-especially wheels, No IFS on fenderless cars, No pastel high-tech styled “streetrods”, No ART CARS-THEME CARS-JUNK RODS. Cars must have the “right” look. Please do not be mad if you get turned away. We will do our best to educate participants on what is allowed and not allowed in. We are trying to establish the right look and vibe for our show. There are many other venues that are more lenient; however, that is not our approach. If you are questionable about your vehicle, please contact us. Having been to the last 4 of this show/run, I can say they are attracting a nice mix of cars, the
mix has some cars that I would say do not completely meet the rules as I read them so I would
say they are not stupid about them but still have a great show. If unsure about your car just
email the others with a picture of your car for advance ok, I have seen them do that for others.
It is worth it to go even if your car has to park outside the show- try coming to see it- you will
find it is well worth it. Just for the record-I have no skin in the game- I am not part of the Others
    nor the PBA.

Well said and thank you for your support. We are just trying to have a show for people that like the same kind of stuff we like. People like to be around other people with the same interests and styles. That goes for any hobby. I like Camaros but I don't try and bring my Hot Rod to an all Camaro show but that doesn't mean I won't support it. As said too we are not "over strict". We have a small venue and choose to have the cars that fit into our format. This is our 5th year and it has been a success in our eyes from the beginning. Like a lot of other promoters we are not trying to make a living off of our event so that allows us to not just let everything in to collect their money.

There were more examples of different manufacturers of flathead heads there than I have ever seen in one place- Navaro, Edelbrock, Arden, Eddie Meyer and even Ford to name a few. The red GMC was a long bed, not many of them rodded but it looked good. The black Chevy pickup with the nailhead was
beautiful. A great show though the turnout was a little light compared to last year, but the Goodguys
show in Springfield and the show in Vernon the same day did not help I am sure.
