I have a 289 Cobra intake that I want to paint to look like freshly blasted aluminum without the maintenance. I was thinking a silver/gray basecoat with flattened clear. Anyone have a PPG paint code that looks like blasted aluminum. Any better ideas than base clear? Kinda figured that would be most durable.

  2. Powdercoat, the color is called bead blast aluminum.

silver paint usually looks a crappy gray (sort of) when it dries. Use Aluminum paint or, as TMan said, powder coat it.

I have a buddy that uses Massey Ferguson Silver implement paint with good results. Of course finding a Massey dealer could be a trick. I can get the number if you need it.

Thanks for all the info. I am looking into the powder that Tman referenced. If I can get it, I have a guy that can spray and bake it. If not then Krylon and PPG clear.
