Thinking of getting side pipes on my Rod,,I think they'll BAD ASS.
Any pics would be helpful,,,,I know they are "risky" due to "burns on the leg",,but I probably still want them!
    Thanks.

That coupe looks too damned nice now to screw it up with side pipes. I'd leave it just like it is and drive the hell out of it. You will come to appreciate those tail pipes coming out the back when you don't have to hunt for the ear plugs every time you get in the car to go somewhere.

That T that El Caballo loco posted does look a bit spooky. And from experience with sidepipes on th 48 for a number of years you do get burns off them.

Right on...they look like an American Grafitti afterthought, an hour before the first take!

Yeah, I know..."But we HAVE to hide those ugly Deuce rails!"

I know at least one gal who has a permanent brand on her calf from dating a guy who had a Corvette that year with a set of those pipes Sting Ray. I didn't meet her until a few years after she got branded and the scar is still there.

I've had side pipes on the 48 as I mentioned earlier and I had purple hornies running down the side of the T that were hooked to the Meg style mufflers and both sets got me more than once.
Those little T bucket pipes like on that flamed Model A above just look wrong on anything but a T bucket though. Even with the red paint and flames you see the pipes before you see the whole car. As Killer32's black coupe sits now you see the whole car and whole package and then start taking in the individual details one at a time. Nothing overpowers the rest of the car and every piece fits in with the rest of the pieces.

Here's a pic of my stainless side pipes. There's room for them to tuck under the body about half way 'cause of the Model a frame.

If I had used a deuce frame, I wouldn't have done it this way. I'd go under the rail like I'm doing on this current build...hate to cover that purdy reveal. There are pipes going out the back with 12" mufflers also. Side pipes will have removable caps.

Those pipes are beautiful, from the headpipes to the baloney slices. The fenders are right in there, the rears bobbed tastefully with the rest of the car.
This makes my normal '32 frame insistence wane...I'd take this Coupe like it is!
    Just tasty!

Thanks, guys...as you can plainly see, I like side pipes!
Making a set of custom headers and pipes is my favorite part of a build. Don't just dangle some T bucket pipes on there. Your car deserves better.

  22. I agree that it looks great w/o sidepipes but if you do them, go short.
I have had sidepipes on my sedan for 12 years and I always contemplate going way shorter.

  23. I just wanted to quote the pictures too.
    Really nice though.

And OP what's your idea of "killer looks" and "badass" sidepipes ?
Your vision might be different ? Pics help.
If you put T bucket pipes on it it won't be a cool ride anymore.

I was open to side pipes idea until I saw example from Sanderson - don't do it, since you are asking. your ride your $$.

By all means, do tell. It runs straight down the road, steers great stops even better. I still have no clue about the bashed spot on the frame, the PO included that.... I'll admit, it NEEDS some bodywork and paint but mechanically, I'd drive it coast to coast without a 2nd thought.
