Thanks for starting this post. I started driving altereds in 1966 and still drive the Bradfords's AA/FA. We Pop and I started building the new addition car in 1999 I can't believe its been 10 years but we have had a blast and will continue to run it as long as Pop and I can. Look for the HOTWHEELS fuel altered due in May

  9. That's the Pitcher Family BBC Altered in the far lane. I saw both these cars often enough. and that T was an twitchy bugger. As a spectator you'd get goosebumps seeing it come through the bleachers- these altered guys are all brave or nuts or both.
I saw it slam the wall at Adelaide one night & I dont think it ever raced again. It wasn't the first time it crashed . It was bent up real bad after leaving hard- things got wierd 2-300' out, slammin the wall hard mid- track in lane 2- may have even been racing Jim Carter- I don't remember who won !

Can I join? Its not the oldest one of the bunch but...at my age safety become a little bit of a concern(read wimp). So I picked one up with suspension. That should be scary enough for a old man like me.

  12. Here is two. One was mine but i didnt finsh it and partnered with Stu Denyes instead. It is the Blue Bantam with a slant six. This is at the old Mohawk Dragstip at Desoronto Ontario.
The other is my current project. the Hemi Jeep Altered. This wooden mock up body has now been duplicated in Alumnum by a professional tin banger. He says it will be back here in a couple of days or so. I have seen it. I am happy. Motor is a injected 5.7 hemi. It is a hardtail with 1/4 elphtic front end suspension. 104 inch wheel base

I also own the last Logghe altered built. I had them build it in 1978. Chuck Kurzawa did the welding when he worked at Logghe Stamping, Al Bergler did the tin work. I am currently rebuilding it to run some nostalgia races with one of the original Ford sixes that I used back when. It will be capable of nines, but I may limit it to 10.0s so I don't have to jump through the re-cert hoops every few years. Advanced Chassis did the chassis upgrades this winter. I will replicate Berglers tinwork myself since I now have those capabilities.

Also, a little O/T since it is fendered, is my RPU Street fighter:

This one is the jersey devil in 1969-1970 or so it came to jersey and became the jersey devil and is getting redone as the jersey devil they need more pics of it if there some out there. In 1964 this car would win the oakland roadstar show as the dorricott & sheehan aa/a fiat.

Love these cars, that Texas street T from Car Craft jogged a few memories, there was one in street rodder, real low, slicks, blown motor, sectioned body (?)always had a soft spot for that kinda car.

    How about more street altereds?

  29. This was originaly my chassis. I built it for a 392 which also I had. I got married and sold it. The motor went one way the chassis another. A friend bought the chassis and convinced me to supply a engine. I did , a slant six 170 with a corvair Turbo. After a couple of years partnering he asked me to build him a 225 no turbo. I did. He got married sold the car. Not before though he won an absolute ton of money with it. Car ran at last Mohawk races and at Cayuga. After he sold it the car disappeared for a couple' three years. Another friend found it and bought it. The late Brian Farrel. Brian was too big to drive it as he was tall and large. It was built orignally for me and I am oversize but Brian was in another catagorey. He hired Moe to drive it and that is who is driving here in this pic taken at Shannonville early on. Moe is short and looks almost silly sitting way down in the roll bar.

Here are a pic of the same car at /6 turbo stage.(Before paint , flat balck.)
