So the other day me and friend @Tim were talking about breaking the mold and putting a *Carson style top on an A sedan. Somehow the conversation rolled around to a very well known show rod that did not have a Carson top but it was eventually hard topped. Anyway long story short I was looking for pics of the famous car and happened onto some very early pics of the car. Thought I would post one of the pics I found just for grins. Most of you will recognize it. Well at least @Moriarity will know what it is. Might be fun to post some pics of show rods that float your boat. So lets see 'em.
Yup, that is the first version of the lil coffin that stuckey drove to high school, before he sold the car to Larry Farber and turned it into the model car version for him.
Yup that one was an icon too. For years I thought that it was a tweaked T and it was actually a purpose built glass body.
I hope I get to see it someday, Mark. That was one of the customs that left a mark on me. Jeffries mantaray was another one. Sorry to get o.t.
Not so much a Show Rod. But more a concept car to show the future. But so COOL ! I fell in love with it as a kid, and hoped to be driving it some day.
Here is a photo of my father and the Futura taken in 1955 when the car was on display at the dealership that he and his two brothers operated.
I was going to the car shows as a kid when the Barber shop car and the other wacky show rods were there. I always liked the Barbershop car. The Uncertain T has always been a favorite of mine too. That was a great time to go to the car shows. Me standing with the recreation of the Uncertain T owned by Martin Bennett.
