Chopped50Ford's post of his shoebox more-door got me thinking. I would like to have a thread showcasing everyone's four door cars. I just got my '40 Chrysler on the road and I like it. Sure, a coupe would have been sweet, but why do they all have to be coupes? So lets see them, in full custom glory, rotting behind the shop, or all stock basic transportation. Let's get a post going to show off everyone's back doors (don't take that the wrong way:eek: ) Here's a pic of my '40 that I've been posting everywhere, to get this started.

The car comes from Chile; I have not decided what to do with it yet. It still got the flathead V8 and it runs.

That is sweet...what year is that? Olds right? It has some striking similarities to my caddy posted above...

Also interested in what shaved door handle kit you use and how they are holding up with kids use? My caddy is a daily and I take and pick up my son everyday in it...

    Thanks

That's a '62 Olds 98 and unlike the smaller Dynamic 88 and Super 88, is on the same platform as the Caddy and usually uses some roof parts the same as the Caddy and Buick Roadmonster/Electra.

Here's another Olds with the Caddy roofline, my '64 98. It's got matching clean whitewalls on it now, but that's about it so far. Dual antennas and exhaust to match are next on the agenda.

Since this thread is going so well, how about a little discussion. I would like to know what everyone's theories are on why four doors have been shunned for so long, what the future holds for them, etc. With the popularity of station wagons, I could see a possible "glory era" for the four door coming soon. I'd also like to hear about four door bargains.

Here's a couple pics of my '40 Chrysler when I got it. It looks a bit rough but it was running and driveable, and had rechromed bumpers and guards, probably $1500 worth of plating work alone, plus the car was complete and I drove it home for $1650. Sure, I'd rather have a coupe. But is it worth the money? How much would a coupe in the same condition cost? 5-6-7K? '40 Chrysler coupes are few and far between. At least that's what I tell myself every time I get "coupe envy"
