Guys, I'll be scalloping my '54 Chevy 2 door soon and have some questions. The car's already painted black, basecoat/clearcoat. Do I tape off the scallops and clear over the whole thing and pinstripe/outline them or clear them while taped and then outline them? Or do I just make sure I mix hardener in and no clearcoat? I'll be using a white enamel on the scallops. I was also thinking maybe blue tips? How soon after spraying should I go back with the blue? Striping with 1 Shot so I'd rather do that last over clear. Thanks, guys!

It all depends on the out come you are looking for , If you are looking to not feel the scallops when your done you will need to sand the entire panels that your scalloping mask it out base it then unmask and clear the whole panel, I have a bunch of times just masked off some scallops sanded just inside the area then base and cleared them before unmasking, then just have it striped after your done, as far as the blue tips after the white is dry to the touch (check by touching paper not the body) then dust in the blue before clear

I tried shooting scallops, but they were ruined when the shell shattered :D
After that I found it was better diving and getting them with a knife :D

I'm with Blue One. The only scallops I like are from the sea.

Enamel will result in a thick paint film leaving a distinct edge to deal with. I suggest using base coat color instead.
