flake is a very hard thing to do. the way i see it... there is no shortcuts. you just got to go through the steps and the only way to get it down chingon, is to bury it in candy flake and clear. and using a base color.. you just have to fail alot to get it right. one thing is for sure,, it aint cheap!
when i flaked my car i used 3 1/2 tablespoons of clear per quart!!!one quart per coat on my car.it took 4 coats and 2 1/2 jars of flake.the base is flat black with strato blue flake .004 which is small flake but in the last coat i put a teaspoon of crushed glass .050{man did the crushed glass make it pop!!!!]this was my first flake job and only the third real paint job in my life.i cant tell you how many people came up to me to tell me how good of a job i did.{dont think just do}
