That's what I always thought too, a shoebox is a 55-57 Chevy. Never heard of a Ford "shoebox" until today.

I always like John St. Germain's coral and black shoebox, (I stole his bumper idea, even though I'm not usually influenced by contemporary builds)
I saw a shoebox coupe in about '83 going down Cherry Ave in Long Beach, it was light purple primer, had a '53 chevy grill surround, a '52-'54 ford windshield like the Goulart ford,
and '49 Plymouth bumpers. The guy driving it looked kind of like Evil Ed (It wasn't- I asked)
It was the only time I ever saw that thing, the windshield must be a tough modification, anybody know anything about that car? There were hardly any cars like that around then.

Here's mine. It's got a long way to go.

After getting a new 9-inch Ford under the back, I recently cut the front clip off with some help from my friends--and now I have a new frame stub from Streetrod Engineering mocked up.

the dagmars I had spun up in steel, and they are welded to a 54 pontiac centre piece.the whole thing was then repolished and chromed.the ends are stock 51s modified to fit the dagmars.
the upper grille (i think you mean the top strip) is stock 51 i believe. heres another shot, sun was mighty glarey today!

West Coast fags, East Coast fags, and all of the fags in between had different names for the same stuff, and the same names for different stuff.

If you want to limit what you want to see, then give the make and years of the cars you want. Otherwise you will get things you don't want. It ain't as "Kool", but it saves on anguish.

Both Chevy and Fords were called shoeboxes in the 50's mags. Don't take my word for it - check them out yourself.

    Here's my shoebox....:p
